Ok guys well the summer is approaching and i want to get fit.

I want to do so by cycling. i have always enjoyed it. and before my car was my main mode of transport.

anyways. the bike i had i donated to a friend who could not ride a bike.

Anyway i want a bike purely to road cycle. The problem is i am very reluctant to get a bike other than a mountain bike because i found i was ..... haeavy handed with bikes and i would be afraid if i get a lighter bike it would not handle my "style" of cycling. ( i understand with this bike i will not be hoping up and down off kerbs )

so my question is can any one recommend me a bike which is not a mountain bike but would be lighter. also i would like cheap and cheerful but would be willing to spend a bit more on the right bike.

I am 6 foot 2 so what size frame should i get?

Oh sounds like your in the market for a hybrid bike. There's several different options but something like this seems okay --

I use a road bike all the time but Im really just trying to help out. As for size, your best to go in-store and try one out. I can't help with that cause I only really know about fitting a road bike.

If you want a bike which is like a mountain bike then something like a hybrid might be a good idea.

Have a look at this page, it mentions some bikes to have a look out for: http://wiki.boards.ie/wiki/Buying_a_bicycle

    Whoops, a bit late...

this is the exact thing i was looking for.

so we are talking in around the 600 euro mark.

Is there any good qaulity second hand bikes around or would i be better buying from new?

    how durable are these bikes?

    Require much maintainance

this looks more like it. is this a good bike. something closer to my price range.

    it looks a bit flimsy.
