If you believe what they go on about in mass you might as well vote Fianna Fail.

    Good point.

People who go to mass are gullible, of little intelligence and will believe in something that has no logic to it.

    Perfect Fianna Fail voters.

I like the social aspect of mass. I see people I probably wouldn't if I didn't go. Atheists comparing FF to a religion is ****ing thick

Next time stand next to him and say you're doing a collection for a charity, I bet you'd be told to feck off

Not exactly a huge deal is it?

Government tax people in every way conceivable,

Government misspends income from these taxes,

Government gets country into an ungodly mess,

Government come to the people looking for more cash so they have a better chance of getting re-elected.

What, do you think Fianna Fáil will just drop out of the elections because the goings tough for them? And no, I don't support them.

Also, I was referring to the fact they were campaigning outside Mass in my post.

Are they not already taking every cent we have as it is?

There's the guts of an accurate comparison there. A lot people who subscribe to a religion (not nessecarily those who go to mass, I accept) do so out of blind faith, parental brainwashing and, let's face it, a complete lack of desire to use their own brains and think for themselves.

People who subscribe to Fianna Fail tend to do so for pretty much the same reasons.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Yeah but they catch you unaware and just as you are about to drop the last of the coppers into the collection basket in church in swoops there hook to grab it out of mid air.

My point is this... I was on a trans-Atlantic flight one time, and as we were 15 minutes or so, from landing, one of the pilots came walking down from the cockpit towards the back of the plane... At first I thought..' jesus man, where the hell are you going... your in charge of the lives of 300 people here, your actions do not instill much confidence'... then I remember thinking, this pilot is probably only second in command... the main guy is up at the helm, and with the aid of the auto pilot and air traffic control, we'll probably be ok.. NOW......

conditions that day were perfect for flying, there was no turbulence, and the weather at the destination was very calm with 100% visability.... had there been heavy turbulence, and the flight had been very shaky, I would have felt more than concerned to see the second flight officer swaning abround the plane as we are coming in to land....

Is this not how we should feel when we hear that the second in command of the country was collecting at a church gate for loose change, during the worst ecconomic turmoil this country has ever witnessed. After collecting maybe €80, she stepped into a chaufeur driven Audi A6, and sped off... please... isnt anyone else astonished at this????:mad::mad::mad:

Brian Cowen was in Enniscorthy on Saturday at the GAA complex with the local election candiates. It seems they are sticking with the same old same old tactics for this election. Church goers and GAA heads will stick with them:rolleyes: It sickens me that they have absoloutely nothing new to offer. Feck this local election. General election now please and lets see what they'll get.

I totally agree with you. I was telling a few people in work about the collection and they didnt seem too bothered about it. I mean WTF. The second in command is begging for money outside a church. Its unreal.

If people want to justify separating church involvement from politics, it's really not a good idea to go collecting or campaigning outside the gates of churches. Likewise if politics is to be separated from the church this should also be the case. Just my opinion on it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,097 ✭✭✭Darragh29

OP, do you not mean there was a politician campaigning outside the church as distinct from "collecting" as stated in the thread title???

the point is SHE AINT BEGGING !
she and the rest of them just have the brass balls , to stand there and put the hand out -

and they have the vile contempt for joe punter to assume they will get money off anyone they can, particularly the old , the senile , the weak willed , and they will take it and spend it how they please.

they are just the same as any junkie / knackbag hand outstretched but wearing 150 euro trainers on any city street .

they fcuked us all over royally , and now they will tax us and wave their buckets out at us to keep them in the snuggly little luxury they are used to

just make sure you ass rape them in any vote that they put themselves forward for , because they are doing it you as we speak.

OP here.....Because people only sometimes only read the first and last pages of a thread, I am going to copy and paste this from page 2 of this thread.... I think it clearly illustrates my point

Seems she might finally have found something she's good at...I for one think she should stick with her new found career in bucket shaking. Maybe she could take some of her colleagues with her. Who knows, in a few years they might be qualified enough to become real chuggers down on grafton st. They're good for f*ck all else as it stands.
Politicians outside mass eh? As if the chuch needs any more deterrents to would be congregates...

I wonder would they accept a box of Teabags, 1kg Sugar and a tub of butter for the party HQ kitchenette and maybe a few homemade curly buns without the currants. ;)

The atheists get very offended if you compare their 'belief' to being the same validity as FF's rantings.

Little Shyte: I thought you would have been aware of the anti-Christian bias that there is on AH. It might be convenient for them to say that theists lack intelligence however they are evidently false, so theres really no need to be offended :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 595 ✭✭✭the_dark_side

    OP again
ok..... you folk dont seem too phased by this... maybe the magnitude of this gesture by Fianna Fail hasnt hit home yet...

The town where this occured has v high unemployment....
Nothing was done during the boom era to attract investment to this area....
the people of Donegal generally havent benefitted from the Celtic Tiger malarkey...
This act reflects a real lack of understnading by the government, of how things are 'on the ground'

So, instead of putting energy into green industry, and alternative energy initiatives, FF resort to the ONLY thing that they know... the accumulation of money. Although this presence at the church gate is purely symbolic, it represents the values that remain at the core of the FF party...

OP here..... EVEN YET... all folk, here on this thread are concerned with is nit-picking at each other's comments... isnt any wonder that FF and the like, have been allowed to get clean away with this since Haughey... I'll tell you, its been a turkey shoot for them for 25 years (turkey shoot = shooting fish in a barrel)

*no lame remarks please... stick to the topic at hand
