It all comes down to whether you are secured or unsecured creditors. As far as I know employees are always secured creditors (this means you get paid first).
I'm currently waiting for money owed to me, I am an unsecured creditor and the case has been with the liquidators for over a year now, all the while they are getting paid and as I'm an unsecured creditor the % of money owed to me which I will be getting is decreasing.

If its a straight forward liquidation, clearly the one i'm wrapped up in isn't, then you will get your money in six to eight weeks as you have been told, there is nothing you can do, you might be sent out a form to fill our where you declare how much you are owed but presumably your employer will already have told the liquidators that.

Just relax and look for a new job unfortunately.

The first creditor to be paid IN FULL Im sure will be The Revenue Commissioners.

You will be paid out of the department of social welfare insolvency fund if the company doesn't have the funds to pay you.

The insolvency payment may not cover your full wages.

The liquidator/receiver should administer all this. Be nice to the liquidator/receiver.

Just because the company stopped trading doesn't mean there isn't money there to meet the wages (though it probably does).

What you have been told sounds broadly correct.

Have a look at http://www.entemp.ie/employment/insolvency/faq.htm and related pages.

    Hi

Not sure about this but dosent the liquidator apply to the government for some of the wages payments?
