    Hi
I hope this isn't a stupid question, apologises if it is.
My house mate has moved out of the house but previously he could access the internet via our home connection when he was for example at work.
Can he still piggy back on my connection in his new apartment?
Again apologies if that's a dumb question but I am not a nerd:)

    Thanks
    Karl:)

if it's wireless wifi then 300m is about the limit

if it's wifi then change the passsword and enable WPA instead of WEP

Do you mean when he was in work he could access your set up from there? (rather than just using your wireless network?)

He accessed my network (files on a home server)
I am wondering if he can type in my IP address and access the internet?

I am no expert on this but I wonder if he set up a vpn from his work to your place when he was living there? Have you asked him about this?

That means you have file sharing and don't have a firewall or a router protecting you.

what box is the internet connected to

what version of windows do you have
( not really an issue for non-windows systems as you have to go out of your way to share files )

Was he accessing his own PC/ laptop which was at home whilst he was at work? You talk about having a server at home, but do you really mean that? Is it just your own one PC at home now, and did he ever access files on that machine?
