Cans wise you might struggle to find anything on that budget. Although there are Noise cancelling here. I have purchased from these guys before.

Actually can anyone advise a good set of cans for making decisions on mic position i.e. fairly good isolation for when getting a mic position, for example in front of a loud guitar amp, but also give a response that you can trust?

Beyerdynamic DT-150 are my fave for mic positioning, good isolation, accurate sound. A few other engineers I know like them too. Mine are 11 years old at this stage, well worth the money. Don't get DT-100 those sound awful.

They're our 'standard' headphones. Sound good and every part is a spare.
