Guys!!, just been told today that the club NTSA affiliation fee has risen from 50 to 250 euro and individual fees are 25 euro??

If this is true what do the clubs and individuals get for their money??
and what NTSA 50m comps are coming up??;)

I have only come back to competitive shooting and I feel its all going Pete Tong!!

Where are the squad training days?, do we have a coach?, and although a great venue at Rathdrum that I really enjoy, what about some 50m shooting!;)

Not yet organised (and yes, that's my job)
    do we have a coach?
Yes, we have two (Geoff Cooney will handle the Airgun shooting and Martin Mace has agreed to handle the smallbore coaching).

    Still sorting out venues.
Also, this will have to pay for itself, the NTSA can't subsidise it. Back-of-an-envelope figures are looking like €40 per head for a weekend's training (which pays for range hire, mileage and a basic fee for the coaches). Soon as I have dates, I'll post them all over.

Dont get wrong as I'm not getting at any one individual!

Good to see things are moving forward!!;)

So what do the clubs get out of the 250 euro payment??, in this time of the credit crunch why such a jump??

Why would I ask Comber to pay 250 euro and then pay another 25 euro myself if at the moment we have no chance of travelling abroard to compete??

    A Bump after eleven hours?
    1. Feck's sake lad, the NTSA doesn't have paid staff, they're all volunteers (and I don't know if you've seen the Misc. Provisions Bill, but that's rather eating up time from everyone in every association down here at the moment);
    2. Did you email them the same question? ( Chairman@targetshootingireland.org or Secretary@targetshootingireland.org )
    3. edit: And there's a match in rathdrum today that half the committee will be at and one in the midlands that'll get most of the rest...

The Misc. Provisions Bill??, know nothing about it!;), I only asked about the NTSA fee's on here as the NTSA dont have a forum and I thought as so many members were on here we might get some answers!

Floydster, I wasn't saying there'd be no answer, nor that you had to go to those matches, I'm just saying the answer might be delayed given all the stuff going on!

I'm just going to post this for the information of anyone who might come to this thread and think that there's a point that hasn't been answered.

The NTSA are affiliated to the ISSF, the ESC, the OCI and the FIS to name four off the top of my head. This means that any club affiliating to the NTSA has a direct line to all those organisations with no breaks.

The bad news is that all these cost money. Roughly speaking you're looking at over a grand for just those affiliations never mind other costs that the NTSA incurs just to exist. So four club affiliations mightn't quite cover the external affiliations.

Anyway, that's a part explanation for the cost. Back when the ISC were giving the NTSA money for core activties, it was easier to absorb those affiliations into what the sports council gave. As a limited company the NTSA also have audit fees in excess of a grand, so again another five clubs affiliations down the swanee and nobody's gone anywhere yet.

If more clubs affiliated, obviously the load would be shared and the cost per club would drop.

    Just a thought.

Sorry for being dumb!, but what advantage is this to a club??;),why would they have to contact such bodies?

Realistically (and not taking anything else into account) it'd be the main reason any body or club would want to join the NTSA.

You can't take part in ISSF or ESC competition without the say so of the NGB for the country concerned. In your case Floydster, you've two choices, but for everyone else it's just the NTSA.

Being brutally honest, why else would you want to join?

Oh I have every intention of joining although its not just me!!, but how do I justify to Comber them paying 250 euro for the pleasure?;)

    In theory ;)

OK, It's really up to Comber if they want to take advantage of the fantastic opportunities on offer by joining the NTSA.

No but seriously, to go with the hike is the new rules (soon to be introduced) where every member of the member club gets to shoot in NTSA National competitions and be qualified for Ireland (assuming they tick all the other boxes of course). There's to be an EGM to ratify this change, so there'd be no need for the individual membership fee (unless you want voting rights).

For the present until the EGM, we have to introduce the new fee structure otherwise the years income stream would be gone and there'd be no chance of sending anyone anywhere next year as we'd be dipping into that money just to get the housekeeping sorted.

That's exactly what the NTSA treasurer said :D

There are a bunch of other things planned, but the general idea is that it's a little easier to get involved. Full details of members have to be supplied and there's lots of other details that have to be worked out, but basically it should be better for all concerned.
