Hi - I didn't know where to post this. It is such an odd question but...

Are there any level crossings left on the Drogheda - Newry train line (part of the Dublin-Belfast line)?

There used to be two automatic ones at Dromiskin but they have been removed. There used to be a manual one up near Dunleer but it to has been removed.

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the very strange question!

The first one on the line is at Poynzpass, well into the North. The Dromiskin crossing was closed in the summer of 2006.

Wow no level crossings between Dublin and Poyntzpass!

Thanks for the answer, it was very helpful!

May I ask did you know this from expierence, or is there a list of level crossings on this line on the internet somewhere? Thanks

There isn't any online lists to look up this sort of thing. There is a railway books that would list such information, the ITG Handbook of 2004 but it's sold out and not in print; you could try the IRRS and see if they have a copy in their shop.

Try the Irish Railway News website www.irishrailwaynews.com
this is just the sort of trivia their site is noted for. :D

    Hi,

Just looking at the Railway Track Diagrams second edition...have the following level crossings also been closed (between Dundalk and Poyntzpass)?

    XD291 Meigh
    XD290 Henry's
    Knockarney (no number)
    XD288 McDowells

    Thanks.
