    Hi,

I'm going to buy a HRM on line. I'm leaning towards Irish and European sites because I don't want to get stung for customs. Has anybody got any reccommendations?

Try ebay. I saved over a hundred euro buying my garmin 405 on there compared to an Irish site.

I clicked this link to see what they had and my anti-virus immediately popped up that it spotted a Trojan Horse, firefox also didn't like it one little bit though I didn't get to read the firefox warning I'd closed the tab before I got a chance. Don't know if it was a false positive or something but folks might want to beware just in case.

    Hi,

    thanks for the advice.

I had my heart set on the Polar RS800 G1. I found Amazon to the be the cheapest but when I went to pay they don't ship them to Irl. Heart-rate-monitor.co.uk had a price promise tho so when I called them they more or less matched the Amazon price of 389 stg.

    Cheers again

Amazon should be shipping most things to Ireland now, except TV's. I got my 405 from them a while back though, but via a UK address, and they seemed to be the cheapest I could find at that point. I also have a couple of vouchers for them at the time which helped swing the deal.

Can you use a different HRM with the 405 or must you buy a Garmin HRM?

The monitor strap and watch will need to be the same brand or they will not talk to each other.

I have to reccomend this site, I got my 405 for under £170, I ordered it last thursday and it arrived the very next day! Be careful the exact same watch is aslo available on the same site for up to £40 more. This is the one I got for £167: http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/964/garmin-forerunner-405---green--010-00658-13
but check out these: £205: http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/1175/garmin-forerunner-405-heart-rate-monitor---black--010-00658-21-
    and £190: http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/1176/garmin-forerunner-405-heart-rate-monitor---green--010-00658-23-

Anyway, I got the watch and a heart rate monitor and it all came in at well under €250 including postage and packaging. Had it out on my run tonight and am amazed at what it can do!

The green is usually a couple of quid cheaper but am I wrong in saying that the more expensive one includes the HRM in the box whereas you bought it seperately? It's quite possible that on certain days the discounts may work out that buying the watch and HRM independently may be cheaper but I doubt it's usual.

Just reread that all the small print again and you are right. I actually got ripped off by a tenner :pac: I wish I had never posted now, could have lived happily in the deluded belief that I had cheated the system and got a bargain :D
