Anyone know where I can pick them up cheap?...Except ebay!... Apple sell them for €40 but all I want is the Australian adaptor and €40 bucks is a bit steep for a few plugs!

    Any info appreciated!

Are you talking about the heads that slot into a Macbook (etc.) power supply? If so, the bit that plugs into those adaptors is simply a standard Telefunken type figure-of-eight head, like you'd get on a lot of home appliances (radios, DVD players, etc.). Just pick up one of those cables over there and plug it into the Macbook power supply, and you're golden.

    Hope this helps,

Good thinking, buy a cheap toaster over there and use the plug from it! lol

Yep, the cutout in the power supply that takes the Apple plug adaptor will take any unpolarized IEC C7 plug (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_connector#C7_and_C8_connectors for a better description of what I mean) directly too.

(Just in case you thought I was joking, as toasters almost always have captive cables with no plug at the device end of the power cable :p )

i used to think like you but having that 40 euro kit has now become invaluable, your only thinking of one trip, this will happen again and again as you travel more, the 40 euro kit is a great investment
