    IMC Gears Up for 2009

Following on from their most successful year ever in 2008 with over 150 athletes competing and fantastic performances and personal bests by IMC athletes, the club will host their first races of the season as part of the Crusaders GV Ryan Meeting next Friday 22nd May.

This event has been moved from Saturday 23rd May owing to Leinsters involvement in the Heinken Cup Final. The IMC races at the meeting include:

    Womens 1500m
    Mens 1500m
    Mens 3000m A + B

Membership will be taken on the night and is EUR 20 for the year - this also provides you with you BMC membership. The IMC website is currently been updated and given a fresh look and will be launched next week. The timetable for the night will be confirmed next Tuesday.

Entries for the IMC races at the GV Ryan are been taken by Garrett Coughlan (garrett.coughlan@ucd.ie) and will close on Wednesday 20th May.

The Irish Schools will host the IMC again on May 30th where the followinng events will be held with entry as per above:

    Mens A Mile
    Mens 1500m
    Womens 800m

Athletes interested in pacemaking in any of the above races should also contact Garrett.

Does anyone know what the recommended standard is for the A & B 3000m races?

The A race is being paced for 8:10.
The bulk of the runners tend to come in around the 8:30 mark (looking at previous years)

Presumably the B race will be for athletes running 8:45/50 and upwards
(All depending on the numbers & standards of athletes that enter)

It should be a great nights racing

Last nights IMC races had some terrific races. Some classic duels and battles. There was a huge turnout of athletes. I saw athletes from Ferrybank, Togher, Mullingar, St Malachys, Letterkenny. There were some 30 personal bests and three european junior standards. Jack Byrne from Mullingar 16 years ran 8.30 and was paced by Mark Christie. Paul Robinson almost beat Alan O'Brien in the men's A 1500.
All the races were run to time and a great atmosphere. More meets like this please!!!
