Because shoes are the one item of clothing which will never make you feel fat. :p

My ex boyfriend had a theory the reason women like shoes is they know what size they are and it never changes so its not like clothes shopping where you can get in a sulk if you are a size bigger in one shop than another.
Personally i thought he was talking out his wotsit. I really don't have a facination with shoes.

Because we can always see them, even if we start to feel like we don't look so good, or having a 'fat' day. We can always just look down at our feet and feel pretty :D

    Cause they're pretty! :p

Because we've been conditioned to. Clever marketing and Sarah Jessica Parker and the like have enforced the idea that shoes are the answer to all our problems and that spending two grand on something which essentially does little more than hurt us while thumping the pavement is ok because we're women.

I like a nice pair of shoes as much as the next person but the lengths some women take the obsession to is absurd, and their excuse is simply being a woman.

Make you look taller and slimmer while giving you nice looking calves and arse ;)

And they're pretty. Jazz up an outfit in an instant.

It's because oestrogen makes them want to collect things.

Look at who the advertising is aimed at mostly.

They're not crazy about shoes, they're just a bit doolally with oestrogen.

I think its the same reason for buying too many handbags etc - good shoes are small, elegant and so nicely made they reward a slow stroking touch. Trying on and then buying such items brings a moment of hightened arousal which is then remembered every time said item is worn.

Well thats my theory on a Friday night at nearly 11 pm.

It is simply the fact that you can buy shoes (and bags) regardless of your weight. You go into town to buy a pair of jeans, get pi**ed off because they don't fit. God forbid you should leave town without purchases to carry so you buy shoes. Simple female logic !

Women like shoes because like they're better than men at keeping us happy ;)

    They give you confidence.
    They make you feel sexy.
    They look nice on.
They emphasise your legs and your femininity.
They hold an outfit together - they can even make an average outfit look amazing.

I don't even think I need to go on - Girls like shoes because shoes are excellent!

Is that a fact of life?

You obviously havent met me, sweetcheeks!

I cant think of 10 things at least to do in order to make a woman happy.

You can't of 10 things? See, there's the point proven! - shoes don't even need to think, they just automatically make us happy ;)

I'm guessing you meant you can think of 10 things, so shoot :P

I would like shoes more if I didn't have size 10 feet :( I'm just really happy when I get shoes to fit... kinda like how others feel about jeans :P

I have to say I've never liked that term. A lady shouldn't be judged on what she wears, like anyone else she should be judged on her actions.

They are rather fantastic looking though Mike, I've been meaning to get the missus a pair or at least something similar.

I think Sex & The City has a lot to do with it..a lady can never have enough shoes

Imelda Marcos was the start of this....

Kintarō Hattori, I agree actually. Its a tacky term.

I don't like the platform highheels. I always think of them as a kind of cheating. :) The flat sole is a much more delicate and attractive shoe.
(Caveat lector: Yes I understand how much highheels can hurt and why highheels have platform soles.)

Men can love shoes too. There are lists of names that make (some)men almost drool, Loakes, Barkers, Churches, Crockett & Jones and so on that are the equivelent (in terms of desire) as Jimmy Cho, Salvatore Ferragamo or LouBoutin are to (some) women.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Like trains for our trainsets and starwars figurines? A lot of anorak type men are obsessed with colecting.

I know a lot of men who have more shoes than me, but they try to argue that theirs are 'practical' Like 5 pairs of runners are practical?

Not sure if it's been posted in this thread already :pac:
