I have a monitor that's failed. Won't power on and it's obviously not an external power issue (cable, socket, fuse).

With classic bad luck it's just outside it's warranty. I don't want to bin it. Is there anything simple I could try? It worked 100% perfectly until it just stopped powering on one day. It didn't even get that much use over it's lifetime.

Is there any sign of life from it? Does the power light go on? Can you see a very faint picture? If it is the latter it may just be the power inverter for the backlight that has gone (a common fault). If there's nothing happening at all it may be the power supply (could be easy enough to fix depending on what's gone wrong) or even just a fuse inside.
