Does anybody know whether or not you can repeat a year at third level on the BTEA and still claim the allowance for the year that you repeat?

BirrDude, it seems that you can. I don't think that used to be the case, but here is an extract from the BTEA Operational Guidelines:
    Repeat years:

BTEA participants who have to repeat a year of their course will continue to be paid the allowance for the repeat year. This is provided that the BTEA participant is registered and attending as a full time student for the repeat year. Repeat students who register as external students, exam only students or part time students for their repeat year are not eligible for the allowance.

It might be wise to give them a call. Good Luck!
