Mr Cormac Quinn BL, defending O’Connor, said his client suffered serious brain injury in a car accident as a five year old and was "dealing" with his drug addiction.
How is that an excuse for this heinous crime?

From my experience of the "justice" system, you would get done for not having a TV licence.

It is almost like those with no records are fined and convicted, while hardened criminals are let off. Are they trying to create problems in society so that their jobs are secured???

From what I see of the whole system it stinks, Criminals allowed out on bail to build up their treasure chest before they go to prison, very little consecutive sentencing (exception today in a rape trial well done whoever the judge was), more concern for the perpetrator than the victims of crime, prisoners being allowed to run the prisons- paint murals on walls , order in their own food and takeaways , no searching of IRA criminals visitors. What we need is a justice minister with some ba**s who will deal with these issues , ignore the bleedingheart liberals in the Prisoners Rights Association and ensure that the 98% who observe the law are protected.

However I do not see such aperson on the horizon .
