You get a metallic taste when you are deprived of oxygen. Be careful, fainting/dizziness usually occurs soon after.

According to any military fiction I've ever read, it's due to Adrenaline! But can't find too much to back that up online

Apparently it is one of the symptoms of the early stages of pregnancy. You should take a test just to be sure.;)

Interesting. I usually get a metallic taste in my mouth if I get a fright from something.
