    Racing.

Jasus, last weekend, Vets (IVCA) race and I'm over the line by about 20 yds, assuming I'm /we're travelling at 30+mph, game over, wind down..............hit from behind. Shunted. Skinned arm big time, leg fcuked, brake levers on my new Enigma, Campag 11 skinned.

Ya gotta laugh though. It happens. :)

Will post photos of skinned soon. They're good.

It just kills me. You race for 50 miles and you finish, and then you get taken out!
And I know who. We met up afterwards and I told him, "No probs".
    So what.
Gripe over. I know Blorg had a similar trick after a race. It's a bummer.

    :)

Sorry, that's me, 7th from right. 114. Grey helmet.

Sorry to hear about that Planet X.

At least you live to tell the tale I guess...also sorry about the bike.

    Hope everything heals up.

At least the collar bone didn't go. I can't afford that. Strong can.

It's bending the elbow. And knee. Scabbed skin wants to crack. Have to lash on loads of Vaseline every day.
    (Easy guys!)

Is that a dude on a hybrid (yellow and blue, left of the picture)??
    Surely can't be??
He's no more than 6 bike lengths behind you?
If it is then maybe there's hope for us "fat people on hybrids" yet (quote from the WW200 thread iirc ;) )!!! ;)

    I think not.

Apparently, us Vets are rolling in it. :)

Wedge is not an issue. :)

Don't give up though. A fifteen and a half stoner whacked me in a sprint a few weeks ago.
I clock in at 11st....about 5lbs, these older / ex RAS guy can handle everything.
    Muscle memory.

Thinking...........I want a T-shirt saying that "I Beat Jimmy Lally"
Even though he's alot older than me, but a hullava cyclisy / sprinter.
First time ever to beat him, then again it's only my second year in Vets.

    C'mon the Boards!

Sorry to hear about the crash, but most importantly, glad to hear the Campag 11 isn't too badly hurt.. :P

Heal up soon, and keep flying the flag for boardsies -I know I wouldn't fancy racing them vets, they're too good!

Sorry to hear about that Planet X. I recall having a conversation with you going up Sally Gap after you got you nice new Enigma when you said you had never crashed in a race... Well technically I guess that is still true, you were not in the race at the time :)

I had a similar spill myself all right but I don't need other riders to crash, I do fine with inanimate objects.

Hope you heal up well and are back on the bike soon.

@lafors- it's not a hybrid, just white bar tape.

Do you reckon you'd be let race on a hybrid?

I was lucky to miss that. I was in there with you with about 500m to go. The finish got a bit excited alright when all the groups came together. I could hear some funny buisness going on on the outside but they baulked and lost out when they started to tangle with each other. That allowed me some space to move out but I did hear the crash behind me just as I passed the line. Its a very distinctive sound you never forget. I notice in CP races some riders way down the field are still sprinting to the finish line to win points in their ability group, so although the race is over for some its still very much on for others behind. Maybe this is what happened to you.
Any body know why no results up on IVCA web site for this race.?
Any news on the rider we passed on the side of the road about half way round. He looked out for the count when I passed.
