BMW to build 3 cylinder engines?

    Apparently and they'll be developed by BMW Motorrad, and turbo charged ... but it's not confirmed :

    Not to mention a 2 litre diesel engine for the MINI, and potentially a 1.8 turbo Cooper S engine with 240bhp, you can only imagine what the JCW version of that will put out powerwise :)

    Are 3 cylinder engines still nosier than 4 cylinders etc?? that all i remember about 3 cylinder cars, but that was years ago.
