The Wire and Sky+

Anybody having trouble with recording The Wire with sky+? BBC seem to be behind in their scheduling - All the episodes i recorded cut out 3/4mins from the end of the show

Plus my sky box started acting all funny just before the show started last night and i couldn't switch to bbc until i deleted and readded the show to my planner, but then the only channel i could watch was bbc! I'd also added a manual recording to the planner to catch the end of the show but that didn't work :( (planner claimed it had "clashed"). Also the sound keeps cutting out and the subtitles don't work so i've no idea what's going on in parts!

This only happens with The Wire - any other show i record is fine!

The very end has been cut off on about 50% of the eps for me. Another poster says you can change a setting in sky plus to add a few minutes to the end of each recording.
I have not had the other problem you mention. On mature reflection I did have problems with the sound on one ep only and I'm guessing sky plus does not record the sub-titles?

Thanks Johnny, i'll have a look for that setting :)
Subtitles do get recorded, i used them for series one when i couldn't understand what they were saying :o But i guess it's a bbc issue and not the box

Go into your sky+ settings and add 10mins before and after recording starts, it used to always happen with me, a lot of the irish channels are notorious for starting programmes at the wrong time

Could you not just always Sky+ the show thats on after the wire as well then just delete it after?

    That'd be too easy ;)

Hi, they repeat the 3 weekly episodes very late Friday night on bbc, may work out better, or act as a backup.

The sky box is almost full, if i don't watch the episodes for a week or two there wouldn't be enough room to record the shows on after too :)

i saw that last night, so recorded them again, after i had changed that setting to add 10 mins to the end, all sorted now!

Only problem is say there was a soccer match or something that ran late, 9 times outta 10 the schedule would not be updated and you would start recording the end of the match and miss the end of the show.

Well that is an option you can also add a number of minutes to the start and end of each program

one word of warning before it though, if you have a show scheduled to record around the time after say the wire, it will/may fail cos of the whole two input thing

Press the services button, go down to number 5 (sky setup) and hit select you can then in this menu extend the times i believe (aint worked there in nearly a year now so goin by memory) up to ten minutes on each end

    Hope this helps :)

Yep - I don't have sky plus and turned on the subtitles last night and got nuffing - either a BBC issue or a more general Sky issue but not Sky+ exclusive.
