not this again... Happened to me when I got my car first on the drivers side.
Now its the passanger side window is making a clunking/clicking noise when wound down and up... Sounds to me like the regulator problem that VW seem to be ahem prone to...
Anyway as its been a year or so since this last happened I cant remember how much it'd cost to fix in a local mechanic not the dealer.
Anyone any idea's?? Labour and parts, full price please...

    Thanks

Very common problem, I went looking for one for a mate of mine, and his 01 passat. (not sure of theres a difference between his, and your 99) Found one in the scrap yard in Kilcock for €70. But he didnt want to sell the regulator, only the complete assy, motor and all. As for labour, not sure, he had his friend do it for him, threw him 50 quid or so.

If you are handy at DIY it is very doable.

DId one in my 2001 there are some great step by step guides on the net.

Reg from VW cost me about 100 quid. Could take about an hour for a good mechanic.

All the electrics have multi plugs.

The speaker in the old reg was riveted so I had to drill them out and bolt into the new one.

    Not too hard..

I wish I was decent at DIY but I'd only end up makin it worse so I better get someone else to do it. Just so annoyed though I had a seat Cordoba years ago as well same problem vw parts etc.. grrr.
Seriously if I didnt love the way VW drive I would be nowhere near them so many little annoyin problems with them. Instead of buying something sensible like a newer model of something like an avensis (hate the way toyota's drive though) I'll end up buyin a newer passat and have the same problems. Gluten for punishment. At least the engines are good. No trouble on that front thankfully.
