    Guys,

I'm involved in organising the Junior Scratch Cup at my club this year (see Scratch Cups sticky) and would like your opinions here on what players in this handicap range see as being good value for a JSC.

Depends on the course, but 15-20 euro max for 18 hole JSC. Around 30-35 euro for a 36 hole JSC.

If i'm paying 40 euro i either want a very good course, and or a sandwich midway.

    Hi Madds,

    Is it 18 or 36?

If it's 18, I'd certainly say golf only for the fee. While alot of guys find it nice to eat after they play, many will need to shoot off immediately afterwards so it's unfair to use a blanket charge.

If it's 36, you can assume everyone will eat at the break.

It is nice to arrive in after 18 to find soup and a decent sandwich as part of the day, but at the same time, why would you inflate the price for this?

As a player, I would be just as happy to pay a lesser entrance fee and arrive in at half time to see a "Scratch Cup Special" deal in the bar for those who want to eat. Something like a fiver for something basic but filling.

I think these days, you have to be concerned about your top-line fee. If you're building in things like food and coming out with a higher figure than other places that are offering no-frills, your entries will suffer.

So in short, it actually makes little odds but from a marketing point of view, go as cheap as you can on the face of it.

It's 36 holes Sheet. Thanks for the feedback re: offering the no frills package as the main objective here is to get as many names onto the timesheet as possible. As you point out I should avoid jeopardising that by going with "golf only" price and then have a deal available in the bar for those who do want to avail of food at the turn or after the full 36 holes.
