Cleat Float?

I've been wearing road shoes with grey look cleats for the last year and no problem.
I recently got a new pair of tri specific shoes and my LBS only had red look cleats.
The guy in the shop doesn't reckon I'll notice much difference between the grey (4.5' float) and the red (9' float). He reckons it would be a more noticable change going from red to grey.
What are your thoughts? I really wanted to get the cleats today for use over the weekend. I'd have to order in the grey ones and wouldn't have them till next week.
Never really thought about cleats before, my pedals came with the grey cleats so i just used em.

I reckon it should be ok -generally going to more float is less noticeable than going to less

Could you not order the ones you want and just take the ones off your road shoes? Just mark where they are on the old shoe so you can put them back on.

Yes I could and probably should but I'm obviously a lazy sod!
Think I'll give the red cleats a go anyway. You never know, they might do away with the slight numb/cold spot I get on the outside of my feet after about 50/60km.
    Thanks anyway tho.
