Top 18 Links Holes

    Has anyone entered Philip Reid's challenge from Tuesday's Irish Times - to create the best 18 links holes in Ireland (in the correct order)?

    And since you can nominate Old Head as an option (holes 2 and 12), does Old Head qualify as a 'links' course?

    Will have a look later.

    To me the Old Head isn't a links played it on Saturday.

    Fairways are far from links.

    Greens are the only part which you could say are some form of links.

    4th hole at Old Head is the best on the course in my opinion. The par 3 16th is a great hole too.

    Off the top of my head i'd include the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th, 16th at Royal County Down and the 15th at the Island. Havnt played Portmarnock or any of the links on the west coast yet.

    Id also include 12a at the European Club. Awesome par 3. Its crazy that its not a regular hole within the 18 there.

    11th, 16th or 17th at Carne. 16th at enniscrone and 14th at connemara. Never like the front nine on links courses ;)

    Play Royal County Down. It has the best front 9 in the world.

    15th Hole at the Portmarnock GC has to be right up there for me as one of the best par 3's I've ever played. Certainly in the Top 3.

    Thundercat mentioned the 12th(A) at European Club, a truly epic hole too.
