    Fuming!
    Hissing!
    Spitting !

I am a normal joe soap, very lucky to have a job, struggling like us all but head is above water so technically happy days.
Last month had the misfortune of 2 hospital episodes . My company did not pay me sick pay as they simply cant afford to so I sent in my little doctors certs & said great. I have a personal loan with 1 of the main finance companies in Ireland. I rang them up said hi sorry my payment will be delayed, im sick in hospital, awaiting social welfare payment once I get it its all yours & at very latest will be 30th of May on pay day.
They rang me on Sat ( 8th) & I explained the story again. Half an hour later they rang again & I explained again. Came home today & there was a letter there from them dated 12th. It stated that if I dont make payment within 7 days or they will start recovery. I cant believe it I really cant. I have never ever missed a payment nor made a late one & I get this letter. This is the main finance company in the country & they are treating people like this for 1 late payment that they will get. Do the treat the people who owe thousands in arrears ? Or is it only the people they know will cough up. Has anyone else experienced this ? In serious ranting mode now

Is it for a car? Because if it is you should be ok. They won't want the hassle of trying to see depreciating asset and then the costs of bring you to court. Not for one missed payment.

I would technically call it a divorce loan - unsecured loan unless they want the ex husband as recovery ...

1 measly bloody payment & i am paying it - if i was 10 months in arrears & refusing to pay yeah slap on the hand but why?

Sounds like inefficiency. Send them a registered letter politely detailing your phone calls and ask for a response.

Unfortunately if I ask for a response they will send a letter & they polietly informed me today that they would be charging me €19 for the threatening one they sent today lol - Thanks for the advice though.....

To tell you the truth mate most of the letters are just triggered by a system and are generic. If you contact your branch and let them know the story there will be no problem. At the moment banks are being very very accomodating when it comes to the repayment of loans. They have enough loans "in recovery" at the moment and it really is a last resort.
They will have no problem with a late payment of a loan as long as you contact them and let them know the story and let them know you plan to bring it online. Don't fret man you'll be grand.

Have you any letters threatened your credit rating? If not, carry on back as normal. You have been corresponding with them, explained your situation. It is not that you down right refuse to pay. Their credit control dept is under pressure to trawl in debt at this point.

If they have threatened to effect your credit rating, write to them, and advise them that if such an action is taken, you will be getting in touch with your solicitor, that you have advised them of your attendance in hospital, it was impossible to take any action until now. Advise them of an impending payment date, and if it is unsatisfactory to them, your solicitor will be in touch.

Don't stress over this, this is more about them than you. But do try get back on track with things. Be aware though, if brought to court, you may be asked for proof of hospital attendance.

I wish I could take these calls for everyone..

    /sick smile
