This is just inspired by the post about the "big untrained guy" fighting the "small, well trained guy" thread before.

What if "untrained" 150 ilb guy is trying to defend against
"untrained" 180 ilbs/200ilbs/ guy or whatever...

Is there a best way to approach this,( preusming there is no way to avoid this confontation) against a much bigger apponent

( lets say i know that i will fightin someone in 1or 2 month and have time to repair,no combat training)

Is there any technique that anybody would reccomend to learn in this situation,?( i know the best answer is to take up a martial art,but if you were not in that position)

The only way i can see is by

-Get in close, not allow big swinging arms and then

-drastically improve your core strength( squatting/deadlift) , and then throw

person on the ground unexpectenly, and hammer fists/elbows from there?

(obviously i've noticed this by MMA ,but is that the only chance of beating a bigger guy realistically)

I know that the bigger "untrained" guy beats a smaller "untrained guy" most times out of most times.

    Any other tips ?

A swift kick in the bollocks and run.

Nah m8 schools out for summer!
Kick in the balls is always good but alot of luck involved!

Just looking for something i could work on in my own time:o

well a fight is 70% attributes and 30% skill so the odds are against you. No luck needed with a kick to the balls, it hurts everytime! It isn't a good way to win though, almost cheating and very unsportsmanlike in my book. Train all you want, it will help like but avoid the fight if you can. It would help a lot if we knew what the circumstance are exactly though...?

Unlike Hurling getting in close isnt the safest option here. Your best bet is to increase the distance between you and your assailant, improve your speed and run.

Then join a club and do it properly. There are no quick fixes.

Just learn the 'Vulcan Death Grip' & watch a few Bruce Lee movies & you'll be fine.

I believe they only teach the 'Vulcan Death Grip' in a Galaxy far far away though so that might be an issue :P

I've been inspired by various ideas recently so ....

1 month to train against a large opponent and you have no martial arts teacher available?

Find a large mountain and climb it every day for 1 month...

If you're spirit isn't incredibly strong after that..... you're screwed.

    I'm not joking. :D

If both are untrained it usually comes down to who has the balls and heart, i'd actually say in most cases the smaller lads are tougher as they tend to have more experience fighting and are more likely to have the little man syndrome! and they should be naturally faster too.

Likewise most big lads have not needed to fight so much and tend to be a bit soft when the **** hits the fan, generalisations i know but would be through in more cases than not.

If both are trained the big lad has obvious advantages and should win in most cases..

ps, dont try take a big lad down to grapple him if you are not trained to grapple, you will easily be turned and then the big lad will not be easy to get off due to your lack of knowledge and his extra weight.

Am I the only one geeky enough here to be annoyed at the mixture of Star Trek and Star Wars?

I watched that big guy/small guy video and if the little lad had done maybe 4 weeks of wrestling that fight would have been over much sooner and looked a lot better too.

Hi, think you should try to give more info if you want any usefull advise here. You can't really get a tip from the internet and then work on in your own time. You really just need to get down to a club and train, but not sure if that's of any interest to you or not?

Yes, noticed, all very odd! Classic lines of a galaxy far far away shouldn't be degraded by being mixed in with trekkie vulcan crap! Apparently the new Star Trek movie is meant to be good though. It all went downhill once the legend that is William Shatner left!

This is not I fight I would take if I was you 150lbs against 180 is a huge disadvantage unless they are in very poor condition. You have to avoid getting in close cause you will be weaker if someone of 180 lbs gets a hold of you.
If I was 150lbs I would try fight from the outside, landing a shot and moving out straight away, head movement being important making sure your not being caught with a shot on the way in and in perticular not staying in long enough to be grabbed or held.
If you landed any shot which stunned the guy like a nice hook to the jaw stay in and finish the job.

Best advice you can get though is run like **** if you like the idea of having your teeth, I don't know if your serious but I wouldn't take on a fight if it could be avoided even if I felt id murder the other guy, injury of some sort to yourself can never be ruled out even if you are the stronger, better fighter

The OP mentioned that both fighters were untrained, so circling to the outside and keeping your distance, is not an option.

On the other hand, assuming the smaller fighter had some training, it would make more sense to me, to take the larger fighter to the gound. An untrained fighter wont win a ground war against a trained fighter, but a may get a lucky ko against a better fighter in a stand up fight.

Also, there's no such thing as a Vulcan Death Grip. It's a nerve pinch.

Your assuming he'd have brought his step ladder, fold up chair, trash can and staple gun with him.

I'd have loved to see that big lad with some Capoeira skills

    :P

Coming to the internet for advice from martial arts practitioners for a fight is not the way to approach this. Why would anyone offer serious advice? Perhaps you are the assailant in this scenario?

There is no sense to this fight that I can see. If you can plan months ahead for it, then you can plan to avoid it.

    Be at peace,
