Need help with Opel Astra radio

Need a bit of advice as my radio no longer works!

I drive a 2004 Opel Astra Njoy. For the past few weeks when I turn the radio on the display says PANEL and it won't work.

After consulting the manual I duly attempted to enter the radio code but nothing!
The manual says when the radio displays PANEL there is a problem with the detachable control panel on the radio, that it may not be connecting properly. However I've tried everything I can think of (i.e. cleaning the contacts and banging it in with my fist!) to no avail.

Hoping to avoid a trip to the dealers or worse, buying a new radio, if possible.

    Please help!

    Hey there,

Same thing happened to the dads astra a couple of weeks ago. He brought it to the local opel dealer and they gave him a contact in walkinstown who specialises in repairing those faults in the stereo.

It turned out to be some sort of virus that is apparently a common problem with that particular model of stereo (in astra & vectra). He did fix it but it cost €60

If you need the contact of repair replace...just send me a pm

Thanks, but got it fixed by a mechanic. Faulty connection at the back. Cost 25 euro.
