The E200K that I drive from time to time returns about 25mpg around town.

I had an 01 E200k , and it returned about 28mpg most of the time, and out on the open road you could sneak it up to 35mpg.

The 2.0K (Avantgarde) is actually lighter on juice than the 1.8k - just goes to show the car was too big for a 1.8 in the first place......

High 20's to mid 30's is easy from any of the small engined E's. Hell, our CLS350 can do high 20's easily enough.

But then, unless he's used to silly mpg diesel Polos, they're no different from most cars.

That's actually a very good point. Many people in this country seem to be anal about MPG. People spend thousands changing their cars to more economical models but then only save a few cents on fuel

Have to agree with you there, buying a nice economical petrol or a diesel and then redlining it pulling off from the lights isnt exactly economical now is it??

Jay, it all depends how heavy you right foot is. I have a 06 e200 1.8 kompressor and if i drive it hard its not great on juice. It could be up around 14/100 however a little less heavy and you can get it to 9/100. Sorry bout the lts to 100km. Its whats on the clock;)

Thanks guys, yeah its the 2.0l model so sounds promising. He was just afraid he'd end up living in petrol stations he's always drove a van and rarely drove the mothers car, which was always nearly low on petrol?
