Corsa Engine Chip

    Hi,

Just wondering could someday help me out. The Mrs Opel Corsa is playing up lately. When driving it cold in the morning it splutters and loses power when you press accelerator. When it warms up a bit it doesn't do it as much only when going up hills. I brought it to a mechanic and he thinks some Chip is gone in the engine and said its around 140 euro for it. Would anybody know what chip he is on about and could I get it from a Breakers Yard. Its an Opel Corsa 1 liter, year 2000... Any help would be grateful...

If I was you I'd get a second opinion.

    Seriously.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] sounds like your air flow meter

Vauxhall Astra 1.2i, and Corsa 1.0i and 1.2i (1996-2000) are fitted with Bosch type air flow meters, part number 0 280 217 123. We are seeing these commonly fail, suffering usual air flow meter problems such as poor idle and stalling.

I owned a 99 1.2 Corsa and the main things that go wrong regarding idling is the throttle body getting clogged with dirt (carb cleaner) and the air flow meters as mentioned above..

Great little car and reliable once there looked after...
