I have a LNB for two cables. One goes to my house where I have a Silverstream SL 65 (LIDL).
    My neighbour has a Dreammultimedia.

When I switch off my box, his signal fails. Surely mine should not override his.
Is this a sign that something has gone wrong with the LNB?

A chance there is a LNB failure. Ive come across quad lnbs to only work on a couple of outputs.

This is a dangerous thing to do from an electrical safety point of view unless you have earth bonded both cables.

This raises a question from my piont of view. My dish has a cable going from the chimney where the LNB is down the side of the house and through the wall and then into the back of my SAT receiver. Am I taking a risk then because it might not be proprly earthed?

No, its only when two or more fuseboards are in play that its an issue. Your fine

Which would be the best way of earthing them? Is it enough to connect an earth cable to the casing of the connector?

You need a qaulified electrician and an earth bonding bar, honestly it would be a lot easier and safer to have two dishes
