just recieved a letter from council saying i am responsible for three dumped sacks of rubbish in dublin city centre about a month ago and i am to be fined 150 euro or 3000 if it goes to court

the letter alledges that i? dumped 3 sacks outside my building (apartment block) at 8 am

    but wait ,it gets weirder

I live alone and would never even have 3 sacks of rubbish at any one time to dump (i always put a sticker on any bag i leave out but its always 1 bag at a time )

I also havent been up at 8am in at least 6 months since my last job ended

what can i do about this ?

Well don't throw the letter away whatever you do. That'll only infuriate them further.

Not much but they have to have proof so if a lettering belonging to you was in one of the three you get done. I know one person that took the tag off a neighbours bag, dumped the bag and then called the litter warden about the dumped rubbish.

    Any chance you annoyed somebody?

Asking in AH is only the first step. :)

    1.Have a bowl of Frosties.
    2.Leave the house.
3.STFU and Go pay the fine.
4.As you leave the building, punch the air and smile cheesingly like someone who has just been approved financing from Ocean Finance.
5.Go home to the misses, tell her everythings gonna be alright.
    6. Light a fire using real Bord na Mona briquettes and the camera will pan out with you, the OH and you loyal doggie Rex all relaxing on a sheep pile mat in the shape of Ireland.

Lol Soupy, I love the way it all hinges on having a bowl of Frosties!

The sugar releases endorphins which will put the litterbug in a relaxed/zen state as he goes about his day to day errands.

Frosties: the staple part of any ubstable person's diet.

Legal advice from AH? Really? Okay. Go to court. Represent yourself.

No, I'll represent him...I'll settle it before it gets to court and you wont have to pay any fines but you may have to admit to some minor treason and terrorist charges. You'll only get like 3 years tops, I promise

    I have one question.
How do they know it was 8am?
Are there cameras trained on your apt block or something.
If that's what it is then you only have to show up and they will see it wasn't you.

Tell them you asked the internet what to do and the internet said you should ring them.

When you've got that far come back to us and we'll tell you what you have to do next.

As Sharpshoot said, what evidence do they have against you. Ring them and ask and they will tell you. My wife was putting empty bottles in a recycling bins. After she emptied cardboard box she forgot to pick up box and put it in car. Hence a month later a €150 fine for dumping. They got the reg of car from their CCTV. I'd say they went through a rubbish bag and got a bill of some sort with your name and address on it....

    Get a shredder in future.....
