Has anyone tried LinkedIn with regards finding a job or getting an inside line into a prospective employer?

It's being used a bit for recruitment in the US, but the filtering and location functionality are too broad to be useful for a job search in Ireland yet. I believe most people are using it primarily for sales networking, but it'll be interesting to see how it develops in the coming year.

I've been on it for a while now, about this time last year I got a good few recruiters contacting me through it.

It's a handy place to keep track of work contacts, and you don't have to reply to the agency messages or accept them as a contact if you don't want to. They're not much of an interference.

LinkedIn and XING are great tools for networking and getting good contacts. I know a good few contractors who get most of their work through XING.
