    Hi Guys,
Thinking of getting a monitored alarm for the house. I know very little about these. Does anyone know how much these are a year ? Can I keep an eye on the house from work? etc
    Thanks

Just get a 2 or 3 wireless camera with a small PC that will post the video stream online. You need a wireless router too obviously.

So you can connect to the PC remotely, through a web browser.
Protected by password etc so only you can see the videos 24/24.
Make sure you can publish a web server from hone and that your ISP is not blocking port 80.

Plenty of free programs available out there. Even the shop that does electronic stuffs here and PC parts have full systems for cheap (Less than 500). Don't remember the shop name, you know the British chain...

i think top security monitoring service is the cheapest. its €180 p/y or €15 p/m . this is just a monitoring company i think. and if you want a eircom phonewatch system i think your going to have to go with eircom monitoring until the contract ends. another thing with phonewatch is that you need a landline if you want it the cheapest. but you can have it through GSM aswell. GSM costs more because i think you have to pay into the sim every 2 months. There is a txt dialler you can get for the HKC securewatch wired system, this can txt you and theres no monitoring fee. this is legal. the txt dialler doesn't call the gards though. any other questions, just pm me!
