I'm graduating in natural science at the end of this year and I'm wondering what's the criteria for getting a gold medal in the exams? Is there a 75% threshold or something?

Think its 75% for natural science, though its course/department dependent.

There is no monetary award for the gold medal AFAIK.

Didn't realise so few courses set the standard at 80%. Pah!

I think that probably has something to do with the way Human Nutrition is one of those ones that's co-taught with DIT. Although some of the B.Eds are like that and don't get a separate category. *shrugs*

Thanks for the info guys and girls. I'm moderating in experimental physics. Actually, I was just looking at the list of thresholds for different subjects and it seems unfair to set the bar so high at 80% for some subjects. Theoretical physics is just as hard as expt. physics if not harder.

Are the gold medals only given out in fourth year, or all the way up?
