    I use this a lot
    http://www.schaack-audio.com/transientshaper.html
Works nice to stretch the decay on room mics or add attack to the shell mics.
I am sure the hardware units would do the same thing but better.

No, used it at home, it is line level input (only the 4 channel version is on xlr).

really great tool tho, obvious uses are drums but it has saved me bee-hind a few time with dead sounding bass tracks and for taking a little of the room off pretty much anything.

SPL have also released plug-in versions of the same. I have the UAD version and works great.

I'll be around next week so I can leave it out in the shop for ya if ya like?

I have the 2 channel version. Brilliant things, bit like moving the microphones after the recording. Use it all the time. It's like a crazy gate mixed with mad compression. It's possible to make the transient either really speaker splitting hard or soften the thing off so it sounds like an ambient recording.

    An outboard rack must have!

Sounds like a must have. I think I'll get a few in then.

Never seen another machine that does the same thing, can't say that for many pieces of studio kit.....

The SPL plugin is really quite nice.

Never tried it. Don't see why it wouldn't work just as well. There was talk at one stage about either the 4 channel or the 2 channel one being better at one stage maybe we'll have a transient designer shoot out. Here's an idea, stick them as a side chain on toms???

I use SPL's emulation for my Creamware sound card.
    If you record drums/bass it's a must.
Can be used for loads of other things too.
    Great stuff!

That's very good feedback Gents and I appreciate it.

I've decided we're now going to represent the SPL line , including the Transient Designers .

    Come and get em!

Is this something you looked into and decided after getting the feedback from this thread Paul?

I use the Uad one a good bit. I can imagine how useful they are on real drums.

Partly, yes. Though it was one of the things I had ear marked to get.

We had opportunities to supply them before but the sums didn't add up - SPL have had a re think on that so it now makes sense.

Were you thinking of the plugins or the out board they are really good its the guy that has designed the elysia gear like the mpressor that designed the transient designer when he was working for spl also look at the plugin ones think spl have their own plugin versions if not ssl have some thing similar I think in the duendes drum strip
