Press Coverage and Fair Trials

Just read an Irish Times article about the McGrath murder case. I really think the coverage of the tabloids has been disgraceful. As her solicitor said
“grossly irresponsible press coverage” had occurred prior to the charging of the accused.

He said that there were now fears that she would not receive a fair trial as a result.

“The place for adjudication of the guilt of a person is the duty of a court of law, and not in the media,” Mr Moore said.

“I hope that the less responsible press will now refrain from this and allow due process to take its course.”

I really think it's time that we put in place more stringent legislation in relation to court reporting. Thoughts?
