    Hi Guys,

I'm debating getting a Mac Mini for work

Would be running an editor / Photoshop / web server and a few other bits and pieces on it.

I'd also plan on hooking it up to two monitors and increasing the default memory from 1GB ? to 2GBs

My question is .. is anyone already using one for work ? And how do they find it?

Given the spec it should be able to handle photoshop work I would assume.
    Browsing ... and so on

ive been using one at home for the past few years for audio/web/typesetting/photoshop work and its grand. Not brilliantly fast but for its price, damned decent.

plus mine is an old G4 rather than intel so I'd say the intel versions are way better

    Thanks for the response ...

I'm basically using a MBP for all my work at the moment and I'd guess the spec is similar to the Mac Minis haven't exactly looked but assuming as much.

Dumping in a bit of extra ram and getting a screen splitter cable and I'd be very happy

All that being said I was just demoing to a client down in galway and they had a 24inch imac .. :o dear god its a shiny piece of equipment

The minis are actually a bit below your MBP, unless you've got one of the very first ones (CoreDuo instead of Core2Duo); except for the FSB (1066mHz).

What's the screen splitter cable for btw?

If you were doing that much on it, I'd recommend max'ing out the RAM to 4 GB (order from http://www.Crucial.com/eu/ not Apple).

I don't use a mini, but do similar work on a 2.4 GHz iMac and found that going from 2 GB to 4 GB made a significant difference to performance.

get the MAX RAM possible, much more important than a speed bump of 2 GHZ to 2.3GHZ processor

RAM is invaluable for those powerhungry programs and activities that you will be running
