We are getting married next April and im just starting to get some quotes for things now, so far im finding that bands, photographers etc are charging MAD money, our wedding is on a Thursday so thought there may be a saving there straight away but NO. So basically im looking for a band, dont mind if its a 2/3 piece only as long as they will fill the floor for the night. Also need photographer, videographer etc...oh and advice about the invites....was thinking of doing them myself but im not sure, i wouldnt be what u would call artistic  Any one got any suggestion for me....please

hi there im getting married next oct and in the same boat as you, ive been recommended a band called tropical storm they would be about 1000 for thur wed..havent heard them yet but they play in scholars in drogheda and are meant to be a real floor filler, are you going with cars?? if so have you got and recommendation??

    Hi Liz

Thanks for that, i will be sure to keep an eye out an take a trip to scholars next time they are playing. A lady from a band called "Rewind" contacted me and we are going to see them play at a function in Swords in a few weeks. They will do it for about €1000 also for 3 piece. Could send you the details if u want? :D

I havent even thought about cars yet, im a bit of a disaster, not as organiseed as i should be!! An uncle of mine is big into vintage tractors and cars and stuff so Mam was kinda saying wait till nearer the time and he would probably sort us out with a car on the cheap through a friend, but u know when doing things like that through family it can be a bit of a nightmare? So not sure about that.

We are also having a Thursday Wedding, have you been getting good quotes for other stuff cozs it not a weekend, i havent really? :(

the only difference is in the hotel charges...we are going with a sat there was 10 euro difference in price per head so we decided to go with the weekend, I was just thinking of hiring a nice car and getting bro in law to drive, i thinkthe car hire is a bit of a waste, think il concentrate on good meal and good band thats all anyone ever remembers...well fingers crossed anyway..and im not sure about a video, think thats another 1000 god its crazy money

Oh sorry, thought you mentioned that your wedding was on a Thursday. Your right a bout the car hire, total waste of money. The meal is real important i agree, id hate for anyone to say the food wasnt nice, plus i want the band to have people on the floor for the night. I really think aswell that photographer and video are major things too as its all you have to look back at after the big day is over :( I havent even price video yet, are they really about 1000? crazy. I have got a few prices from photographers and they are mad expensive. I actually am meeting with a local photographer tomorrow night I think, bumped into her one night by accident really and she gave me her details, checked out the website and her stuff looks fab....so we'll see how that goes too :)

Fazer6 bet me to it, the great escape are great for weddings, but I think you'd pay a bit more than a €1000 for them, worth checking with them though.

I got a quote for 2500 Euro for both video and photograohy. The photo album is a digital storybook album and 5 smaller albums. I have been pricing around and I thought that was good. His name is Brian Reynolds in Bailiborough in Co Cavan. There is a band in Dundalk, Co. Louth called Off your rocker they are 1000 Euro with dj. I went to see them they are good, a 4 piece band.

I had my wedding on a bank holiday monday.

My band was "US" E1,000 - the floor was full all night
The Stormers are a fab band also

Photographer: Shutterbugs in Carrick. I got married in Dundalk and Mike travelled over. Have to say he was amazing and well worth every euro.

Cars: A2B limo- brillant you can bargain with these no problems
