Knight Rider on Sci Fi in May...

Watched this last night out of curiosity, and have to say that it fell VERY flat....

Apart from some pretty dodgy airbrushed CGI in places, it's too slick and vacuous; nothing worthwhile apart from the car, and nothing to indicate that "one man can make a difference".....why the FBI want this guy to drive around and "help" is beyond me.

Maybe nostalgia has coloured the original, because it wasn't perfect, but given a combination of what the car "could" be capable of nowadays and decent graphics instead of the old Commodore 64 video game screens, SHOULD have been amazing.....but it was like so many new shows and remakes - missable TV wallpaper more interested in looking cool and video-game-like than having a storyline with decent characters....

Not sure who it's aimed at, either - 16 - 20 year olds who think "donuts" are cool, or lovers of the original....

It's dead, 17 episodes made...they cut the last 5. They even did a reboot mid-season....it didn't work. I watched all of it, but it was rather poorly written.

I gave up on it about 3-4 episodes in... dire and got worse each week. Watched the reboot episode (12th or something?) and it didn't really help... As Richard said, it's been canned in the US, so even if you did enjoy it, it would abruptly end...

Didn't thonk much of the pilot at all, as has been said it was very flat, thought to myself I'll give it another try but sounds like I'll be wasting my time.

I couldn't even make it through the first episode. Kit was unable to outrun some big American SUV. Granted that car is just a big lump of an engine with horse and cart suspension but even done up it couldn't take corners.

I kind of liked the movie-pilot episode, and gave the series a chance when it started. I made it half way through episode 5, and just had to stop. It was absolutely awful. Far, far worse than the Bionic Woman remake, which in itself was quite dire.

The constant use of bikini-clad babes wasn't even close enough to overcoming the dodgy as hell CGI, and crappy transformer-KITT.

Nobody should watch this, it really is just crap.

I dont understand why a station buys in a show thats already cancelled. for the people who will watch this for the first time on sci fi....and maybe even like it (not many, i stopped after ep 5 after liking the pilot too) why get people into a show when you know you'll only show 17 eps?

Because it's really, really cheap, and they can use it as a non-primetime filler. It's got to annoy people who get into these canceled shows (not this one, obviously) before they know it's been canned.

From the moment the new "Mike" was in bed with 2 stunners @ the start of the show, I knew it was gonna be poor; add in the FBI girl being introduced the morning after an all-female one-night-stand, and it's pimply-14-year old wet dream video game time

Basically it's "stylised" beyond caring, with the transition from overcooked CGI, dodgy rear-projection "outside-of-car" scenery (the close-up of the two guys in the SUV chase made it look like they were going 30mph, while Michael & Kitt 3000 "exitting the plane") was dire!

Stuff like that just annoys me too much. I hate to see lame car chases, the Americans seem to think all cars where born equal.

Oh, there was on excellent moment....

Girl (getting out of car) : "I'm going back to the house for my dad" (despite the dodgy characters still being there)

Kitt : "That's completely illogical"

Mike : "You obviously don't know women"

Saw this the other night, apart from the car I have to say I was majorly disappointed.

KITT is such a nerd and downright boring!

Watched the 2nd episode last night and can only say that however bad the pilot was, the 2nd episode was car-crash TV!

KITT "morphing" into a 4x4 so that the pair of them could jump into the back part was bad enough, but KITT morphing back and the 2 of them are suddenly in the front seats ? :P

The acting and dialogue is so crap that it actually NEEDS the pathetic "Grand Theft Auto" permanent soundtrack.

Add in the teenage soft porn elements (we've got to strip off in the car because the outside's on fire) and the "team" in the hangar, and it's UNBELIEVEABLE that they got this SOOOOO wrong, and that the original creators allowed it to use the Knight Rider name.

It's almost so bad that any urge to watch it - based on a nostalgic love of the original and the fact that the female lead is well worth "watching", even though she can't act - is ALREADY gone......

Pity - would've loved to see the feel of the original combined with new (but not OTT) CGI and all of the technological developments since the 80s (Sat Nav, Google Maps, texts, computer advancements, etc).

It almost makes Fair City seem well written!

I though the Karr episode was muck. So much build up in from previous episodes to result in less the 5 minites screen time lol and uber lame death lol.

JPLiz...twas cannced after 17 episodes, it got it's budget cut + the last 5 eps. were canned, ratings were pap.

I got the pilot but had to turn it off after appox 10mins - or whenever that scene with yer woman from DeathProof taking a shower was? I was only tolerating it up to this point but the faux-gratuitious shower scene left me in no doubt the level this show was operating at (ie Star Trek Enterprise) and that was enough for me. I think it's one of the few things I've ever turned off so quickly.

Rest assured, I'm quite happy with my 4x seasons of original KR on DVD if I need to watch Kitt and Michael Knight blazing their impressive trail of justice and broken-hearted women across the United States.

Good riddence to this latest pointless regen.
