I have someone coming out to me tomorrow to connect a cable from the dish to my new Freesat HD LCD TV. When I go to set it up, do I need a UK postcode to get some HD channels? Anything else I should be aware of?

By the way I am in Co. Louth

    Many thanks.

Yes, you need a UK postcode on initial set-up. This will give you the correct regional versions of BBC1/BBC2/ITV/CH4 on 101/102/103/104, although you can change both BBC1 & BBC2 to whatever you want at any time. If you want to change ITV or CH4 region at a later date you have to run the set-up again.

Google can usually sort you out on this one for a suitable postcode, SW1A 1AA for example is Buck Palace. :)

You'll be asked for a UK postcode when you're setting up the Freesat tuner and you'll receive the regional programmes for whatever postcode you entered (the main difference is the local news bulletins).

As you can't get ITV HD through UTV, it's best to enter a London postcode. You can still access it through ITV1 London, which should be at the end of the EPG.

The Postcode is more to decide which versions of BBC1/2, ITV and Channel4 to show.
If you use a Belfast-area code you should get BBC1/2NI, UTV and Channel4 with NI ads.
    [Here's one that should work - BT1 2DX]

On the ITVHD comment - you should be able to get ITV1 London on ch# 977 regardless of what postcode you use, and that channel will show the red button to switch to HD when it's available.
So you can tune in the NI channels if you want.

Are you sure it is Freesat and not Freeview?

100%. The TV is the TX-L37G10B from Panasonic.
