Toilet Cistern wont fill with water - how to fix?

    Hi
Yesterday the taps that are fed from the attic cold water tank and the toilets ran dry. I assume this is because the tank ran dry (there is some ESB work going on outside the house, so I blame them).

Anyway, the non-mains fed taps eventually came back and are now working file (so I assume the attic tank did fill up), but the toilets havent refilled.

I am at the point of calling out a plumber, because I cant figure it out. There are two toilets that aren't filling up at all. On one of them the metal push button is jammed so I cant get the cistern lid off.

The other is a realtively new duravit toilet, and its innards dont look like a traditional ballcock/arm set up to me.

What should I do? I assume the attic tank is fine, but why arent the toilets filling up after this temporary outage?

Sounds like the problem I had. Airlock...

I had this problem the other day. I have a couple of ideas that might work.

    1) I overfilled the cold water tank in the attic. This put pressure on the airblockage and forced it out.. Just hold the ball cock down, there is usually a safety overflow pipe so it shouldn't actually overflow...
    2) Disconnect the pipe feeding the cistern and suck. You will get a mouth full of water though...
    3) A suggestion by another poster was to connect the hot water tap to the cold water tap. turn on the hot water tap with the cold water tap open. The pressure of the hot water flow could push the trapped air up and out. I have my doubts about this since the pressure of hot water is probably less than what is needed to push the air up.

These are not tips from a plumber but the first one worked in my case.

Old thread I know but after 2 days without water all my toilets were air locked- no2 worked - remove pipe into cistern and suck til water comes out - be ready with the screwdriver! You will need to do this for each toilet
