    Hi,
I've got 4 tyres to fit on my car. Anyone got any recommendations on where to go for fitting.

    I'm in Galway City.

Unless you know the mechanic it'll be hard to get them to fit tyres you bought elsewhere.

I would recommend Kevin Burke Tyres on the in the Riverside Industrial Estate on the Tuam Road (091 769636).....gave me the best price about two months ago. Give him a call - he'll sort you out.

Codwally, most tyre centres (except the large ones) will fit tyres for a price, regardless of where you bought them

Is this the best Galway has to offer,

Kevin Burke quoted EUR10 per tyre AND EUR 30 for alignment.

EUR70 all in. I'd rather buy a couple of tyre levers.

I don't see much wrong with 8-10eur per tyre if you're supplying your own, their profit margin is the selling of the tyre in the first place

30 for alignment is cheap, too cheap. Almost guarantee that that's just toe in/out

You want to get a full 3d alignment done for the sake of a few extra quid

Francis out in Cloonboo Tyres is excellent. Here's his website: http://cloonbootyres.com/ (I have no affiliation with him, just got good service from him before and will go back again)

He looked after me for 10 a corner after I'd bought my own Falken 452's from Camskill.co.uk for a cracking price. Most other guys in Galway quoted me stupid prices, so they've lost all future business from me.

One un-named company quoted me 150 a tyre (yes that's not a typo - 600euro to fit the 4 tyres I had bought myself - and it wasn't a mixup - they knew I had the tyres already) just on outskirts of city.

VP Motors in town are the best, wont rip you off. John is the man to ask for. but they dont open weekends.

    Why are they the best?

I would have thought a tyre centre would be the 'best' as opposed to a sar sales place?

From personal feedback i've gotten, with regards to car purchases, avoid VP - Can't speak for their other services

Have to agree. The chap in Clonboo is very accommodating. I recently bought tyres off him and he was cheaper than anyone else I rang for the same brand. Will fit tyres at around a tenner a go.

My experience with Kevin Burke Tyres
I rang around to get some tyre prices & rang the Athenry branch of Kevin Burke Tyres instead of Riverside branch by mistake. I was given the following info on budget tyre brands.
    Fullway hp108 - 93w - Eur70
    Carbon cs607 - 93w - Eur75
I looked up the brands and decided on the Carbons as they seemed to have better reviews than the Fullways and other budget brands from other tyre suppliers in Galway. I then called to Riverside branch & was told they were not in stock there but to call next day (Thursday) when they would be sent from Athenry branch. I rang twice next day. First time I was told they'd be in by 3. After 3 I was told they'd just arrived. I drove down & had 2 tyres fitted. When I got back to collect the car I saw it was the Fullways that had been fitted and was told that I was getting a better deal. When I raised the issue that I had gotten a lower price for the Fullways over the phone than what I was now being charged and had not wanted them in the first place I was told I could go back & get the Carbons again on Saturday but didn’t have time to do this. Was lied to that the Carbons had been delivered, that I was getting a better deal with the Fullways and the Fullways were fitted for more expensive than price I had been quoted on them. Needless to say I won’t be going back.

Never had a problem there myself. Got 2 sets in the last 2 years (BF Goodrich and Hankooks)
Very happy with service and price.

I don't know if you've heard of the search function its quite useful.. & yes I was pissed off but the main reason I posted was because of road conditions lately, the tyres I got were useless in the wet, kept skidding at take off, I since got other ones fitted on the front and moved the ones I got in KB Tyres to the rear..
