    Hi all,

Ive had my WHV for about 2 months now with every intention of going at the end of the summer, but the way things are working out Its not looking like the right time to go, the main change is work no longer giving unpaid leave, so if i go theres nothing waiting when i get back.

What I wanted to know was is there an option to cancel your WHV, and a) get your money back? and b) would that mean you could never re-apply, seen as you never actually used it.

As really id like to give it a year, see if the worlds a brighter place job wise and then apply for the visa again, either way then id have much more money to go and have a safety net if it all went pete tong!!

Anyone ever done this or would know if its possible?

Yes, send them an email here
"To have your Working Holiday visa cancelled, contact the Working Holiday visa processing centre."
I got that quote from here
    a) get your money back?
No idea, I would assume refund - processing fee = money back
actually if you find out, please let us know!
and b) would that mean you could never re-apply, seen as you never actually used it.
No, you can reapply once it is cancelled

That link was very confusing as it seemed to be about holding 2 different visa's at the same time.
I applied for my WHV a few years back and unless it has changed, you definitely get no money back. Wouldn't even if your application for visa was rejected.
And you HAD to use your visa within a year of being granted. No 2nd visa options unless you did the 3 months agriculture and then went home for a bit before te extension.

Mind you, i had a quick look but couldn't really see it so it could have changed

Yes, but it also stated clearly you could cancel your WHV.

Thats a better link to the WHV section.

You can apply again if you cancel it but you have to pay the application fee again. Also, remember you cant apply if you turn 31 in the meantime.

Hussey,i made no reference to cancelling the visa...was simply offering advice on questions a and b. Wind your neck in! lol

spoke with visa first, the company i got my visa from, they said that as the visa and the insurance i got from them had already been processed i wouldnt be able to get any refund!

not the end of the world to be honest, my own fault for being an idot and letting them talk me into spending 500quid on god knows what extras!

also they confirmed if i do cancel the visa then im free to reapply for the visa again no problem! however if i just leave it expire then its void and i cant reapply!

    im reasonably happy with that!
