Check triathlon Ireland, here's a list of all their affiliated clubs-
    http://www.triathlonireland.com/specfunc/affiliated_clubs.php
I'd definitely advise only doing open water swims with others.

I did think it sounded like something you would be involved in Eoin. Great to see this type of networking on boards.ie

    Jesus - all this shouting.........

I hope the Eireman is on as having ridden the course and been in the area it has the potential to be a fast domestic Ironman. something that could grow over the years.

hey butrasgali, might be best to turn the old CAPSLOCK off when posting. So you can use capital letters AND small letters when needed.

Yep - the numbers aren't great and prob won't get much better... We would have expected more but when you open a NEW Long distance race in November you really have missed the majority of the 2009 gang. That said we are setting out our stall and building for 2010. Agressive plans are already in place

The prize money we are giving out for the 3 races is a frightening 12,000 and no surprise the big bucks will go to the smallest field in the "Ironman distance". Thats a hard pill to swallow but if you want to bulid a world class event - swallow it i will...

Every single entry is important this year, Long, Middle and Olympic... to try and get this in a healthy financial state. With that we can advertise in 2010 and bring in the Pro's....

I hope the worst of the recession is behind us.... Despite what tri magazines say it is affecting ppl from racing abroad esp the UK triathletes

We are getting there slowly but surely :)

Pity numbers are so low for IM- looks like it'll be a fantastic event and its on my wish list of events to do this year, (olympic distance that is) and I'll be trying to encourage a few from the club to enter too.

    Howdo

Maybe ask the lads that did Eireman x - they had no complaints i think....

on that subject of swimming - for the Wexford (potential) tri heads. I'm going for a sea swim in Culletons Gap (beach beside the woods) this Sunday at 4pm. Anyone is welcome if you have a wetsuit and latex swim hat. I'm expecting a few so don't be shy

YOu are welcome to come along and pick my brains about all things triathlon (for what its worth...) :p
