Lovely sunny weather we're having....but its not so nice when you're car is like an oven:(

You see ive got no air-con or sunroof and to make matters worse its a black car with a long sloped windscreen > its a sun trap.

So I just wanna know is there any device on the market that can help my predicament....dash mounted fan??

I left a lawnmower in the back of my car for two hours today, not a good idea.

I don't think there is much you can do, only leave the windows open a bit, lol. Just be thankful you don't have leather, or pleather.

Im seriously starting to regret getting leather. My back gets all sweaty on long drives in the sun. And I refuse to get them bead things for the seat!

Previous to going into the car, it was cutting grass. Now there is a smell of grass baked into the car. I'm not that stupid:P

There are some portable aircon units available for campers etc. If you really really wanted to, you could fit one of those.
It also possible to get an aftermarket system fitted to many cars but it would cost more than trading your car and buying an equivalent one with aircon

LOL, typical Irish complaining about the heat after only 2 or 3 days of pleasant sunshine.

God only knows what we would do if it was really warm.

Yes, you can get the little 12v fans thats plug into the cig lighter. They're not great though.

Does your ordinary air blower in full cooling switched to the dash vents not do enough?

If worst comes to worst you could always open the windows a bit!:D

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Before you drive off, open all doors (and the boot if it's a hatchback) for a few minutes to let the accumulated hot air out. After that when driving the vents should take care of it, failing that, an open window.

It's not like it's 40 degrees outside now, is it?

also look into one of these. Supposed to work very well in hot tents, campervans and cars. You could trow a bag of ice or frozen water bottles it in, plug it into a 12v and leave it sit in the back seat. should work a treat.

Parked in full sun, the temperature inside a car can easily reach 50 degrees plus. I reckon that that whimsy little fan connected to an ordinary cooler box would reduce that temperature by about 2 degrees before it's sucked your battery empty and the cooler is full of lukewarm water:D

You could always try those cheap foldable sun screens that you unfold and put on the inside of your front & rear windows.

Well at least you got some nice warm water on tap.. no, the way I saw it was if OP was planning a bit of a drive and wasnt stopping etc.

if he was driving along motor way for a few hours having one of those working away would be better than opening a window...

I think this problem has been solved... The sun has gone.

Ah sure, until next year when we get another hot day.

I have a black car too. Got into the car earlier and it was toasty (sitting in the sun all day). I have tinted windows all round, so that helps a fair bit. I bought one of those windscreen yokes too. Never use it. If you can get wind deflectors, have them on, and keep the window open a small amount.

Failing that, just get a bike :D

Tint your window to the darkest possible and park your car with the rear window towards south if you get me

Ya, My bother can't understand why Irish cars need air con. He's working in the oil fields in the Middle East, where temp of 50degrees can be obtained. He only turns on the air con if the temp goes above 35 to 40 degrees....

If it's hot here, open front & rear windows and drive. The car won't be long cooling down...

Relative humidity is much higher here than it would be in the Middle East, so the cooler "hot" temperatures here feel a lot hotter to us. I used to live in Saudi and find hot days here (like yesterday) just as bad, if not worse than 40+ degree days there. And as others have said, a parked car in direct sunlight will easily reach an unbearable 50 degrees even here.
