County Council Contribution Fees

    Hello Folks,

We've just recieved planning permission in Co Wicklow, which we're delighted about understandably.

We were told the Contribution fee would be around 18 or 20 Thousand.
When we recieved a copy of the Planners Report 9,300 is crossed out in pen and 19,000 is written in with no breakdown of that total.

The only differnence they've written in after crossing out the heading for the charge is that the site is 'small growing townland'. I must add that the site is within the townplan and zoned Urban.
19,000 with no breakdown or explanation seems like somebody is chancing their arm to me.
    The house is 238sqm.

Has anybody heard of successful Wicklow applicants appealing this planning charge and getting a reduction in the fee?

I much prefer to have a breakdown of this fee and 3 or 4 grand spare to put into the Building cost.

    Regards,

    MR TR

Your Architect/Technician should be able to work out to the cent what your contribution would be as he/she know the house and site circumstances better than anyone else. Paying more than the calculated contribution happens quite often and is next to impossible to get back the excess from any LA. A small calculation beforehand saves a lot of work later. :)

I hope the politicians who are proposing property taxes read threads like these....
You pay stamp duty on the site cost,
    'Contributions' to the LA,
    VAT on materials and labour
    Tax on the insurance
    etc etc etc,
And then they want to tax us again
Sorry for hijacking your thread OP!

    Thanks Sinnerboy for the link.
It gave the ray of hope I needed yesterday Morning and my Architect wouldn't let go of the Co Co rep, until we found out they revised the fees in November last year:mad::mad:

So their 19k fee now corresponds to their new table 4.2 in their November edition of the pdf file.

    Worth a try anyway.
It's actually convinced my Architect that Im not made of money as well, which is a good thing.
He'll shop around alot more for a decent building quote now.

(without having read the Wicklow doc)...

I think you can appeal these levies to an bord pleanala in any case, I know a lot of applicants in my neck of the woods that have, with favourable outcomes.
If there are any grounds your architect can argue on, I'd say submit it - you've only a nominal fee to lose & a lot to gain

    hey,

at the risk of sounding stupid - has anyone thought of asking for a review on their fees? we are due to start building in the next couple of weeks so we'll be paying our soon. my fiancee was awarded planning permission for "our" site before she met me. therefore the figure we have to pay is based on prices/costs from 2 years ago. since then we have all taken paycuts, economy has gone to sh*te etc..

going to give it a shot! he who dares wins!

hi just wondering has anyone paid fees to Wicklow Co.Co. this year? I am hoping to apply for planning permission but the contributions fees seem very extravagant.. Anyone got rough prices for this year?
