Is Dmax a rebranding of Turbo or a different channel altogether?
Theres loads of stuff I watch on Turbo.

More channels is whats needed, not swapping.

Dmax is a different channel as is ID.

I think UPC are putting on more popular channels.

They seem to be stuck on 138 EPG slots for the time being.

Discovery +1 will now be available to all viewers yet they remove Discovery Turbo. LOL tbh

I think I could happily lose one of the 7 or 8 Euronews language variations to keep Turbo.

Couldnt see myself missing the God channel either.

Dmax is a completely different channel, has less documentary's than Discovery.

**sob** Discovery H&H was my one of my favs. I don't think I would have signed up 3 weeks ago if I had of known they were getting rid of it! :(

I don't get this change at all. First they add HOME to 512. Thought this made sense. 500s now holding all home/lifestyle channels. Now they remove Discovery home to replace with a crime channel, in the 500s!
On the other hand, they remove Turbo and replace with Discoverys Men Entertainment channel. On sky it's listed as entertainment. I've just turned it on now and it's showing a drama. Useless.

DMAX epg is showing Discovery Turbo listings.......clever.

Cant believe Discovery Turbo is gone, some great car programmes on it and its going to be replaced by some mainstream crap. Do'nt UPC know men watch TV too.

If it was'nt for Gold and the phone and broadband i'd get Freesat and tell them to stick it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

That multi language Euronews is just filling slots in an attempt to talk up the number of channels on the platform, they should drop at least 3 of the feeds and introduce France 24, MSNBC & Fox.

The Discovery changes are cr*p, no more 'Wheeler Dealers' :(

I think Dmax sounds (based on Wikipedia article) much better than Turbo. To me turbo was a 'skip' channel. According to Wikipedia, Dmax has both Louis Theroux and Magnum PI.

    Agree 100%...

Wheeler Dealers are still on Real Time :)

What seems a bit odd to me is that UPC have a notice saying that from May 6th UKStyle will be rebranded Home... When did UKStyle ever been a part of the UPC lineup?

Are these the great changes they were talking (i.e. UPC) about when sending out new cards

I couldn't agree more that UPC should get rid of all the extra EuroNews channels and why not carry the soundtracks on the EuroNews stream instead of taking up capacity and free some space? So analogue thinking by UPC...

Theres no reason why they cant have all the discovery channels. Theres plenty of filler there that could be dropped. The above mentioned euronews, religion and the den(what is this channel for, it just mirrors RTE2 during its airtime), one of the 2 instances of Setanta Ireland.

I couldn't agree more. Since we've had a choice forced on us though, I am happy with how it turned out. :)

National Geographic is back. Is that for good this time?

Theres nothing to stop UPC adding more channels - the capacity is there,
the issues are cost and there is possibly a clause that they cannot carrry all the Discovery Channels in the same way they don't carry all the Setanta Channels which are subscription! or all of the UKTV channels.

MSNBC is not officially available to European cable operators, though its occassionally rebroadcast by CNBC Europe. As for Fox, do you mean FX or Fox News? FX I would like to see, but Fox News, I think we can do without its particular brand of "news" coverage. In any case, with seven news channels (BBC News, Sky News, Euronews, CNN, CNBC, BBC World, and Bloomberg) we are well served in this area by Chorus NTL.

As for the Discovery changes, I rarely watch any of the Discovery channels anyway, so Turbo and Home and Health are no big loss. I doubt I will tune in much to Investigation Discovery (aka Crime Scene USA TV), but DMax looks interesting in parts, although I don't know what Magnum PI is doing on a Discovery channel...

Are there any rules or stuff in the contract about getting rid of, or changing channels. e.g. could you sign up for a 12 month contract and then in theory they get rid of 90% of your channels? Some person might legitimately have only signed up for one specific station only to see it cancelled soon after. Or upgraded to some package and then have a €10 downgrade fee, which they could very well change to a €100 downgrade fee and leave you with it for the 12 months.

I'd be very surprised if the T&C's didn't permit them to change the channel line up at any time.

Well I'll take FX while they're at it. Fox & MSNBC are at opposite ends of the liberal / conservative agenda so would be a nice balance and anyway Fox would sit well between Comedy Central & Comedy Central +1 :)

Technically Bloomberg & CNBC are business channels. Could France 24 not be added for free given that's it on Freeview?

ROFLMAO! Its funny because its true.

They'd still need a carriage deal, they can't do it without premission. Anyway President Sarkosy once threathened to close down France 24 and replace it with a rolling French-only news channel, though that policy doesn't seem to have come to fruition yet.

    DMax is total garbage.
They were showing a rerun of Londons burning when I was going through the channels.
All they seem to show is reruns of old shows no-one wants to watch and some other reality tv show trash.
What a waste of a channel.
Discovery turbo was better than that.

No it wasn't. Can't say I ever watched it. Most cable channels are repeats of programmes seen on other stations. This is only going to get worse as the recession continues.

That makes your opinion on the channel pointless then doesn't it.

Not if like me, he had looked at the schedules and thought there was nothing worth watching on it. :)
