    Hi,

Basically the printer works fine except when printing off in the darkest color of black. That is, I realised when I change the black settings on like a word file to just below the darkest black, it works fine then! Otherwise if I leave documents the way they are it prints off very faded black, or generally nothing . .

Change the black cartridge? The lighter than black is a mix of the colours in the other tanks.

    Thanks that explains it. .

I have been having awful trouble with the black cartridges. I read something that some people think brother make their systems in a way that they automatically cause you trouble when you buy cheaper ink alternatives. Thing is that the color ones have been working fine but the black ink has been shocking (no matter how many times I clean it!!).
