I admit to have fallen behind with House over the last few months. I rectified that a couple of weeks ago while on holidays, where I had a stash of 8 episodes to enjoy (the Kutner and Amber episodes were stunning).

Now I'm at the stage where this will be the first thing I watch tonight....

All I have to do is stay away from this thread until then. :)

    Excellent
Amazing episode, as many predicted on the last thread the drug habit went away to quickly to be reality. I accidently read a spoiler about the start of season 6 on one of the other threads thinking it was a spoiler for the episode that the thread related to, so the ending did not come as a major shock to me.

One thing though that didnt make a lot sense to me, the guys right side of the brain hated the deodrant, seeming to symbolise it knowing that it was causing the problems.... is the right side of his brain a doctor?

Really looking forward to season 6, it will be interesting to see how they are going form episodes if house is clearly out of action.

A small bit clichéd, but well executed. Worth watching a second time.
Didn't feel like a finale until the last 10 minutes though.

    +1

I wasn't expecting it, but it wasn't a huge shock (if that makes sense...). I did think it was going a bit too well for a season finale, so I guess that's why it wasn't that shocking. Really good episode though, the twist with the old guy was nicely done.

Looking forward to season 6, because I'm not sure you can practice medicine if you have a psychological disability - I know they said in a previous episode you can't if you're on medicine for it.

It also lets them drag out the Huddy storyline for another season (or two...or three).

Damn, we have to wait til September for another episode. Time to throw an impatient kiddy tantrum, toys on the floor and all.

Thought something would go wrong with Cameron/Chase before the wedding. Guess we'll get to see how married life is treating them next year.
Overall a good finale. Well executed.

Yup, felt like a regular episode until the last 10 minutes. Nice ending, loved the way Amber showed up as it dawned on House what was happening....

Yeah it wasnt as much of a shock as it should have been i think but it was very well executed as per usual with House

Must pick up all the boxsets when i get a chance while i wait til september :)

So now I'm confused - did the events in this episode actually happen or were they all an hallucination? Or a bit of both?

I thinking maybe I need to watch it again

I'm sorry, I'm going to lose you. I'm entering a tunnel, in a canyon while on an aeroplane and hanging up.

    Brilliant ;)

Overall the episode was fantastically high quality throughout. And the twists were quite brilliant also. Really loved this episode. I was worried the quality of this season was slipping but the last few episodes of this season have returned my faith in this show :)

Yeah well, grim as it was, this ending makes more sense - it was too twee, too sudden for House to fall in love and detox so easily. I feel a bit sorry for Wilson who was genuinely happy that his friend's life was turning and instead he gets to see him off to a psychiatric hospital (love the fact it was Wilson who went with him).

Patient was pretty interesting but it really only felt like a finale when we saw House's breakdown.

Season ended well despite being a bit rough for the large part. I still miss Cuttner and wonder why he ever chose Thirteen.

Oh and this finale, as good as it was, still wasn't a patch on last year's and that chill-inducing "Amber" moment.

I really enjoyed it, reminded me alot of the season 2 finale except instead of ending in a positive way like that did this one goes quite negative.
So now I'm confused - did the events in this episode actually happen or were they all an hallucination? Or a bit of both?
Everything happened except House didnt sleep with Cuddy, it was all an hullicination and the lipstick he kept messing around with was actually a bottle of victoten. Wilson never brought up the sleeping with Cuddy with Cuddy so he genuinely believed House and her did it, while Cuddy was being distant to him because of the horrible thing he said about her child in the previous episode.

THe only bit I was not 100% on was
Kutner appearance at the end, I assumed at first it was an element of House fighting back to Amber who was trying to convince him he was crazy and that he was strong enough to quit the vicoden but he still went to a psychiatric hospital so I guess he really has gone crazy?

I hope they stretch the House is gone crazy arc for quite a bit next season, my only complaint I have had with House is that alot of its arcs dominate for 2-4 episodes and then disapear without a mention, e.g wilson leaving, house's ex, cuddy's boss etc. One of the best arcs in the series was the tritter one in season 3 and that was because it went for much longer then any of the other ones (it started near the beginning of season 3 and went right up to almost the halfway point)

Other things about the episode i liked, the case was interesting, thirteen is still useless but at least she's kept mostly as a background character. Its nice to have Chase and Cameron centre stage again.

At first I thought the case was about the detective from the beginning of the season as the patient sorta looks like him and the bread throwing would be something he might do.

About next season...I look forward to seeing how House's team is reshuffled while he is gone, will cameron and/or chase fill in spots on the team while Foreman take's House's spot. Will House become a medical equivilent to Hannibal lecter?

I am so full of excitement.

EDIT: Whats Oxycodone? Its what he was on at the end instead of Vicodin, I assume its something much worse???

Awesome twist, very very well done, we thought the camera shaking the whole way through the episode was just poor editing until we realised :D

Can't wait till september, Dexter and House!

i didnt notice it said that.
its another opioid painkiller, like vicodin, given to deal with chronic pain, notably cancer related issues.

it was a pretty good ending but itl be interesting to see where the show goes. hugh is signed until 2012 i think, but the writers definitely seem worried about the show getting stale and formulaic. glad that they arent scared to shake it up though.

Im also curious if this brain impairment has something to do with the brain damage he got in the bus crash and the subsequent meds and electrocution, or if that was just throwaway writing. maybe it is nothing but the vicodin messing him up?

OMG Thought it was an amazing episode, Can't believe have to wait until September though and that the HUddy thing didn't really happen :(

What about Kutner back at the end? Is it a nervous breakdown? Poor House he seemed so much more normal in his head, and was actually happy (or not completely miserable)!

Kinda sweet that Cameron and Chase made it to the altar - but am guessing that it won't be all smooth sailing

Hope Chase & Cameron fill in for house while he's in Mayfield - although it'll be funning watching house trying to diagnose someone from a mental institution.

Bet he finds an interesting case there!

And felt so bad for poor Wilson, after everything that has happened between them too, and then with his brother this year being institutionalised, it must be crap to have to send House off as well!

Dammit - September is ages away!

DING! Seemed like a throwaway incident a few weeks ago, but now it makes sense. There is your plot for 6x01 right there.

Loved it. After discussion and general speculation it wasn't exactly a shock, but it was still executed so well. The moment with the old man was sublime. The sequence that ran through the real events along with the imaginary was also very well done.

    Can't wait for September.

I thought it was great from start to end. Acting from House, Wilson and Cuddy was top drawer. I loved House roaring from the balcony that he had shagged Cuddy. Realising it was all a Vicodin tinged hallucination, was a bit of a shocker, as was the reappearance of Kutner (must have filmed that snippet before he left). And Amber Brkich once again appeared in an uncredited role - not many shows, or actors, are that brave (Lost take note!!!).

POTW was very interesting - I noticed his girlfriend was the same actress as Ben Affleck's on-screen-for-10-seconds bit on the side in State of Play, but it was rushed at the end to get through House being sectioned and Chase and Cameron getting married.

Looking forward to Season 6 and incarcerated House doing differential diagnostics already.

Excellent stuff to be honest.. 'House' always knew how to pull off a great finale.

I thought one of the final scenes with Cutty and House walking into Wilson's office was heartbreaking.

Good to see Kutner back.. albeit briefly.

I thought the whole Kutner thing was a big surprise and a bigger twist than what was going on in the final 2 episodes. Still - the big dream thing was a good twist for a season finale! :)

    Sept is ages away :(

Certainly was a very interesting way to end the season but I agree it will all be done in the first few episodes of next season.

I will have a guess at the extended team trying to diagnose House and coming up with brain cancer or something.

Did it specifically mention House going potty or is that an assumption. Could it not have been him going into go cold turkey properly.
hugh is signed until 2012 i think

Means nothing in the US just means they have his services till then its like a footballer signing up for 5 years still means they can transfer or leave but with penalties. TV companies usually cover there arses with actors so they don't lose them to a better deal elsewhere.

Expect several dark episodes at the start with House taking the mickey out of the nut jobs in the looney bin. Should make for some great Houseisms.

I said it before House/Cuddy won't happen for ages if ever just like the other two in 'Bones'. Its done to keep us watching.

With house in there, they might to a One Flew tribute and put in a Nurse Rachid character in there that could keep House heavily sudated or worse. House defo has the potential to be a McMurphy character.

kutner wont, he's working for the white house now.

Maybe Amber might make appearances occasionally if they flesh out what is wrong with House maybe she will play the occasional little devil on his shoulder.

    My predictions for season 6
I'd say we'll see more of Amber, we'll go more into House's past, one of the patients at the mental hospital (probably a hypochondriac and I'm thinking 1st/2nd epiosode) will have a disease that house will pick up on (amber will probably mention it first, house may try to ignore this).
His counsellor will probably be a really likeable insightful character, and there will be a contrasting character (probably a monstrous nurse who mistreats the patients).
We'll see some new sides to house, more of his humanity
Most likely he will be commenting on the medication he is receiving criticising the judgement of the doctors and possibly hiding his meds.
Cuddy and or Wilson will come in, bring him a gift something to remind him of better days, become exasperated with house's theories on his new patient or whatever and while leaving come out with a cutting one liner that may only serve to inspire the next step of houses diagnosis.

I'm so looking forward to it.
