I had a bet on PaddyPower the other day. I was certain at the time that I backed him e.w. without the favourite at 9/1. The horse finished second at an sp of 16/1. I checked my account to see I had been paid out on the place part of the bet at 16/1, I immediately rang Paddy Power customer service to query on this and was told in no uncertain terms by the representative that I was after making a mistake.
She said that she would send it to their IT department and that they would get back to me within 72 hours. They came back with this reply.....
    Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Paddy Power Customer Support.

Please find below an explanation of your bet query receipt number:

You had picked the selection with the price 9/1, but as you have your "Betslip Alerts" setting set to "Accept All" you received no alerts about changing the price to 10/1 (You can change it on the My account page/Details - settings).

The bet was settled at 16/1 because it was a guaranteed price bet, and
    the SP got so high.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

I've taken out my own name and that of the rep who emailed me.

Now it seems to me that they are saying that I did in fact try to back the horse at 9/1 but that email seems to be suggesting that I actually attempted to back him in the full market and not the w/o fav market. I am certain that I did back him in the w/o fav market. He was 9/1 in the w/o market, I remember that clearly and he was 16/1 at the time of my bet in the main market. I went and checked the race result on the racing post and he did in fact touch 9/1 at some stage in the regular market which I believe is what they are now suggesting was my bet.
I don't know where to get the information to further investigate this matter personally and to be honest I don't trust Paddy Power plc to settle this to my satisfaction as I have had three queries in the past and have always ended up on the losing side. I will admit that I was not fully certain in two of these instances as I understand that human error can occur and I wasn't concentrating fully on what I was doing as I was doing other things at the time, but on another occasion I was fully focused on what I was at and absolutely certain that there was no error on my part. And this time I am also certain that I did click on the price for the horse without the favourite.

Sorry about this being so drawn out but I am just wondering how to proceed on this from here? Or should I just accept it as there is no way to prove it and move on to another bookies?

Is der not something in your bet history to say what market you backed it in. Check this out, and if it shows then that you backed in at 9s ring someone higher up than the first operative as they do not have a clue.

there has to be some record of the bet you placed. you should check your account to see what market you backed it in. you can go into a paddy power shop and get someone in there to put the market up on the screen for you if the market was betting without the fav. they do this to show what time the price changes if you take the wrong price on a race, e.g you take 9-1 and they say he was 8-1 when the bet was placed.
