Comet at North Coast

Im sure it wasnt my eyes playing tricks on me but at 22:38 tonight (Mon 11th May) i was heading from Coleraine to Portrush and saw what i believe to be a comet heading towards the ground at the Giants Causeway direction.

At first i thought it was a plane going down, but it was too big to be a plane at the distance i saw it at.

It had a green glow from it and i lost sight of it when it went down behind hills and trees.

Did anyone else happen to see this or hear anything about it?

I dont know if comet is the correct term to use, but it was something like this:

One of these comets or one of these comets?

If the latter, there may be more info here at the astronomy and space forum

If the former, pics please!! ;)

Yes it was the comet/meteor type i was referring to - though sadly no pics of it as i was driving home at the time!

I have been flying for 6hrs today, but im pretty sure it wasnt my eyes playing tricks on my. I was on my hands free at the time, and the person on the other end wonder what the loud 'wow' was about when i saw it!

ISS went over at around 2250 this evening. May have been that?

Its a possibility. But it looked alot bigger and closer for the ISS. and there was like a shimmer from the tail of it. It reminded me of the one from Armageddon where it had the smokey tail from it as it came in over the water - except smaller and green.

Lets see if anything comes up in the news.

Someone in Dublin also posted about it in the Astronomy section of the forum, but i dont know how to remove this Thread as ive relisted it there.
