Further to a recent topic regarding crazy speed limits/legal permitted speeds I think the Ring of Kerry takes the biscuit! On the particular stretch coming downhill from Molls Gap, past ladies View down to Muckross, the limit is 100kph! We're talking two lanes here, in opposite directions, continuously twisting and winding downhill, with some nasty drops to your left and overhanging rock on your right. Not to mention the plethora of coaches on this route during the summer months, foreign drivers in unfamiliar right hand drive rentals and backpacking cyclists carrying their whole world on their bikes! Madness, regardless of the very good logic and reasoning provided by a previous poster, on how limits are arrived at. Its just amazing that so often, destinations are likewise arrived at!

Agreed, where I am theres two roads to Drogheda, one is a twisty back road with no straight section at all, this road is 100kph, the other is a fairly straight road with one or two bends on it, this road is 80 kph.

Doesn't make any sense at all
